Before and After Hurricane Katrina : the Aftermath of the Flood

Over the past 12 months many of you in the SaintsforSinners.com “Family” have offered tremendous support and encouragement since our home and office were destroyed in the flood. Thank you for being so kind and caring and interested! More than a few times, some of you asked “Why don’t you put up pictures from the hurricane/flood?” I was very resistant about that. In a way, it seemed like it would be wrong because broadcasting the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina in photos while simultaneously trying to sell hand painted saint medals and serenity stories on the web site just did not feel right.

But, now that a lot of time has passed and a whole year has gone by, we have been able to make progress about rebuilding our home and reestablishing SaintsforSinners.com to its former self. It is somehow easier to consider presenting some photographs to show everyone what the hurricane and the flood did and how it impacted our lives. So, with the idea that we are living history down here in New Orleans and because our future looks brighter than it has for a very long time, I think it is acceptable to show you some photographs if you are interested in seeing in them. If not, that is completely understandable and there is no need for you to carry on further with this link. Rest assured that we are progressing and we will be a part of the rebuilding efforts in the great city of New Orleans, Louisiana. We will not move way, we will not abandon our rebuilding efforts and we will come back bigger and better and stronger than ever!

For those of you who are interested in taking a look, here is a brief photographic retrospective with pre and post hurricane/flood photographs. We would appreciate hearing your comments.

"All truths wait in all things,
They neither hasten their own delivery nor resist it,
They do not need the obstetric forceps of the surgeon,
The insignificance is as big to me as any,
What is more or less than a touch?"

And there, you have a it; a small glimpse at the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the flood. We will rebuild. We are renewing and as always, rejoicing in the lives and stories of our saints because ... as Robert Louis Stevenson inspiringly said, "The saints are the sinners who keep on trying," even when faced with difficult obstacles.
