The Saints are the Sinners who Keep on Trying - Robert Louis Stevenson
This is the story of Bridget of Sweden!
Patron Saint of Sweden;
Invoked against Daydreaming at School
Bridget's story took place long ago. Bridget married at a very young age. Her husband, Ulf Gudmarrson, was a Noblemean and the couple had 8 children together, including Catherine, who later became known as Saint Catherine of Vadstena, Sweden. When Ulf died, Bridget mourned but then thrust herself into creating the Order of the Most Holy Saviour, or the "Bridgettines." Her Monastery was primarily for women and it became a popular Swedish New Age Spirituality Center emphasizing the importance of sticking to your studies and pursuing high ideals. Bridget was known for her visions and she was often sought out for her prophecies. As her Order grew, Bridget became more outspoken and disagreed with the more conventional issues of the day. Her unique commentaries made her a very popular figure in Sweden, though sometimes she was severely criticized. After her death, Bridget was canonized not once nor twice but 3 times! Pray to Bridget of Sweden when trying to stay on course with your studies or when offering your commentaries to others. Saint Bridget of Sweden will keep you on track! © 2001 |
