Our Lady of Olives

Our Lady of Olives

Patroness of Reconciliation, Invoked for Protection from Lightning and for Help with Safe Childbirth
Feast Day: February 10th

It took place in a tiny village in France near the Church of Murat.  In the 15th Century, lightning struck the town and the only item that survived was the statue of Our Lady of Olives located in the Church. The olive tree has become known as a symbol of heavenly comfort and blessings. A metaphor for “wisdom” has been described as a “fair olive tree in the field.” The olive is also known as a sign of prosperity and fertility. We have also grown accustomed to “offering an olive branch” to those estranged, in an effort to reconcile. The olive is a symbol connected with those who are pursuing a reconnection to their Faith and to God. It serves as a witness of faith, a sign of veneration to Mary, the Blessed Virgin, the Holy Mother of God, and Mother of us all. Wear or carry Our Lady of Olives as an a symbolic reminder of your love for Mary her son, Jesus, and harmony for all.
