Saint Stephen the Deacon!
Saint Stephen the Deacon!
The New Orleans Saints Season begins tonight with the Saints playing the Houston Texans in the Superdome! Loyal “WHODATS” will be there en masse, cheering for the Saints, led by quarterback Drew Brees.
We are reminded of Steve Gleason, the former Safety of the New Orleans Saints, whose statue is located outside Championship Field. He’s famous for blocking that punt in the playoff game years ago, but infamous for his work off the field raising money and awareness for persons living with ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosiswhich, years ago, was not as well-known and called “Lou Gehrig’s Disease.”
www.TeamGleason.org is his Foundation. It has provided $ 10 million in adventure, technology, and equipment and care services to over 15,000 people living with ALS and many others, through their advocacy, support and research programs.
Team Gleason’s Mission is to help provide people with neuromuscular diseases with cutting edge technology and equipment. It strives to ensnare global colloquy about ALS in efforts to find solutions and eradicate the disease. Team Gleason has been in the forefront, providing and documenting extraordinary life adventures for people with muscular diseases or injuries.
Steve Gleason has always one of the kindest, greatest Saints, stemming simply from his off-the-field kindness and charity efforts long before his diagnosis. Steve has been an advocate for education and spearheaded efforts to give kids backpacks when the school years began. He is our favorite Saint of all-time!
