Let’s Try This Again!
Planning for Canonizations,
Not Funerals, at the Vatican,
Saint Peters Square
August 2025!
Our best laid plans for Carlos Acutis
(he's for sale!), and then,
Pier Giorgio Frassati (he's also for sale!)
went awry after Pope Francis I
passed away on EM - You know,
"Easter Monday." Easter Monday?!
Yes, "EM" is a something special. I did not know this before now. It's a Celebratory Day, and actually a public Holiday, in many countries throughout the world!
Some call it the "First Day of Bright Week." It’s about remaining euphoric and lit by the joy of the Resurrection. The entire week is a great big party in many parts of the world. Who knew!? Almost everyone in Spain, France, and Italy takes the day off!
Except this past April,
Bright Week was not
the brightest.
However, when we finally saw Pope Francis’ Tomb at Mary Major Basilica, it was bright, bright, bright! And brought, exceptional light. It makes perfect sense that
Pope Francis I would usher in
Bright Week on the first day in his Tomb.
Yet, now it’s time to move forward and let you know about summer plans. On June 1, 2025, I will be away from New Orleans, spending time alone, reflecting, and writing.
Although, of course, I’m also going to
Canonizations in Rome, whenever, if ever, however, possible. You’ll be hearing about all of that soon, I hope. But first, we all need to give Pope Leo XIV a minute to relax, play some tennis, and then he can start looking at the calendar, scheduling events.
SaintsforSinners / SaintsforHOPE will continue on without any disruption whatsoever. All of our hand-painted saint medals, stories, and lagniappe will still be available online, and our stores will remain fully stocked, thanks to the
great team I’ve been so
fortunate to pull together.
I’m always available for calls, email, and texts. Please DO contact me if you need something. And if you’re taking the “Who’s Your Saint Quiz,” I’ll definitely be responding!
I’ll be gone because I’m just not able to breathe and withstand the heat and humidity of New Orleans in June, July, and August. As most of you know, I am very fortunate to say,
“I live with bilateral vocal cord paralysis.” Breathing is extremely challenging.
Please let me know if you’d like to receive a card or note from France, Italy, possibly England, and hopefully, hopefully, San Sebastain in the Basque Region of Spain, one of my very favorite places.
(ST, “this note’s for you, wherever you are!”)
Finally …. Seriously …. You all know I really do love, love, love, writing, and sending out postcards. Always have, always will,
as they say …. “God Willing.”
So, text or email. with your details and tell me to send you one from somewhere!
“Oh! The places We’ll Go!”
Thanks for reading to the bottom line.
