SECOND:

Today is the Feast Day of Saint Pedro Calungsod  - he is a Philippine Martyr and saint. We attended his Canonization in 2000 at the Vatican. Saint Pedro, who was named after Saint Peter, "Heaven’s Gatekeeper," is the Patron of the Youth. So, if you are young or “young at heart,” like me, it’s fair to say that Saint Pedro is one of our personal patron saints.

It’s exciting that this is the “Jubilee Year,” and youth  - kids - are celebrated! Two more youthful saints will be joining Pedro as patrons of youth.

CARLO ACUTIS:

You already know about the first one, Carlo Acutis, and he’s the patron saint  (to be) of computer programmers and obviously, youth. The Vatican will be swarming with kids in Saint Pater’s Square. I can’t wait to attend his Canonization. I’ll be sending pictures and posting frequently on Facebook, and Instagram. So, go ahead and follow me on those pages. I’d write hundreds of Newsletters instead but that would drive you crazy!

PIER GIORGIO FRASSATI:

The second youthful person who will soon become a saint is Pier Giorgio Frassati, who will be canonized late this summer. He is going to be the patron saint of hikers and mountain climbers. His medal has a giant mountain in the foreground. He smoked a pipe, but we painted over it on his medal. I think we might stop doing that soon. There’s really nothing wrong with smoking cigars or a pipe. “You Be You!” “Live and Let Live!”

THIRD:

HOUSTON, WE DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM; WHAT WE DO HAVE IS EPIC EPOCH EXCITEMENT!

&

Hal Kuehn

We received a call from Hal Keuhn at Epoch in Houston. Hal has this idea about incorporating our saint medals into candles by encasing them within the homemade wax.  They will eventually melt down and then reveal our hand-painted saint medal. I have not completely wrapped my head around Hal’s concept. Maybe it's like a Cracker Jacks box, only completely different?

Still, I love his Concept and Idea!

Anyone who knows me will definitely say,  perhaps paraphrasing Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland”  ….

Rob?  “Why, sometimes [he’s] believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” (GUILTY AS CHARGED...)

I think Hal’s visionary concept is that the candle with our saint incorporated into it, …. will combine as one as they burn bright. An ephemeral saintly swaft of air will surround the room where the flame illuminates.

I may not be descrbing this accuratey. It’s definitely  an exciting new and fun, the idea of  spreading the presence of the saints and their patronages through air. It’s like the candles we light and burn at Church or elsewhere to light our dreams, hopes and fears and soothe our souls.

It reminds me of the song John Paul Young, “Love is in the Air.” Candles and Saints in the air!

Hal’s candle’s air will be filled with the auras of healing (Archangel Raphael), love and marriage (Saint Agnes) , fertility, safe pregnancy and childbirth (Saint Philomena), among others.

FOURTH:

The extra surprise: Our crafter, Franco, has found a way to paint our Vatican/PAX  ET BONUM  (“Peace & All Good”) medals.  Unfortunately, I do not have any of those medals left for him to paint. Except, I will be buying more when I’m visiting Saint Peter’s Square in a few weeks.

So, we are discounting the medals we have now. They’re $10.00 each and when they’re gone, they're gone. Then they will be replaced with a beautiful new design. I wish I could show you Franco’s artistic renderings but we sold all of his medals at a local Fair.

That’s all for this newsletter. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram. We will be writing more on those pages, but I’ll try and continue wring a Newsletter each day for the Lenten Period, as we have always tried to do.

Thanks for reading to the Bottom Line!
