12th Night

We are sharing Connor's Note from Australia ... It's Not Really for me; It's for One of You!?

We are sharing Connor's Note from Australia ... It's Not Really for me; It's for One of You!?

Hello Everyone!

We received the nicest note from Connor, "tomorrow," because with the time change, due to the lengthy distance. it is already tomorrow in Australia!

Here's Connor's note, in its entirety:

"Dear Rob:

I hope you are the person who sent me the most incredible secret santa package all the way from New Orleans!!!!

First I must say I am so sad about the act of terrorism on New Year's Eve. Such a tragedy for your Blessed City.

Your gift brings me so much joy and delight. I am so deeply touched by your generosity and willingness to ship down under to me!

The Way of the Rose Community has been such a gift to me. And just FYI I am originally from Louisville, Kentucky and my 94 year old Mother still lives there so I go see her once or twice a year.

Thank you, deep gratitude.

Many Blessings,

Connor K. "

So, clearly, that note is really not for me, if you are the person who sent Connor the hand-painted saint medal package, please know your gift was greatly appreciated.

Gifting one of our saint medals has often had quite an emotional and visceral reaction from the recipient and as well as the giver of the package. I'm really just the Messenger.

The Photo Above is my niece, dressed as Joan of Arc on Christmas Day!

Yesterday, I went to a party at Jessie and Jamies' for the !2th Night Saint Joan of Arc Parade. January 6th is Joan of Arc's Birthday. Years ago, my friends Amy Kirk, and Rick Duplantier, created the event by having a short Parade honoring Saint Joan. It concluded when we reached the beautiful Saint Louis Cathedral and we passed around Birthday Cake for Joan's special day.

Now, the parade has become a Festival and celebrates "Joanie on the Pony" year round, honoring Saint Joan in many various ways. It was a fun idea Amy and I came up with while talking at our Christmas party. Our small kernel of an idea turned into something truly spectacular that is now the Essence of 12th Night (The Epiphany) in New Orleans.

Mardi Gras Season has officially begun!

One last thing: while I was at the party at Jessie and Jamies' home on Kelerce Street in New Orleans, I was talking to the hosts. One of them thanked me for sending them Saint Sebastian medals years ago. In fact, Jessie pulled out a key ring in his pocket and showed me that he still carries the medal with him everywhere he goes and still likes to look at it and touch it and think abut it. Those are his words. It's well worn yet its value seems to have grown exponentially. I am so lucky to have stumbled across the idea of try to share hope and seventy with others simply by sharing a token talisman of hope, I do love ideas. These medals do work their magic.

Here's a final quote from Connor K': I found it at the bottom of Connor's email and I plan to put it on the Inspiration Wall of my office. I'm also adding my

"Word of the Year," but I'll save that for another e mail.

The Quote from Connor's E Mail.

I think it's a beautiful sentiment to follow for the New Year...

"There is a vitality, a life force,

a quickening, that is translated through you into action,

and there is only one of you in all time;

this expression is unique,

and if you block it,

it will never exist through any other medium; and be lost.

The world will not have it.

It is not your business to determine how good it is,

nor how it compares with other expression.

It is your business to keep it

yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.

You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work.

You have to keep open and aware,

directly to the urges that motivate you.

Keep the channel open."

~ Martha Graham
