Vintage St. Margeurite Bourgeoys - "Mother of the Colony"
Relic Included on Reverse - Round 1.5 cm - Decorative Frame Design
Margeurite Bourgeoys was a French nun and founder of the Congregation of Notre Dame of Montreal. After her death she went on to become the first female canonized in Canada.
Our vintage medals have been collected over several years. Most are from Italy though we recently discovered more medallions from Spain and France, with filigree in Spanish and French. The past few years, we have traveled throughout the French countryside of Provence and discovered many different medals in the cities of Avignon (formerly the home of the Vatican), Montpellier, Carpentras, Isle Sur Les Sorgue and many other small villages. These medals are beautifully aged, and some were likely created in the 1800 and early 1900's. Our pilgrimages to Lourdes and San Sebastian were great experiences, spiritually, of course, AND we also found many, many vintage Saint Bernadette, Our Lady of Lourdes, and Miraculous Medals, all with French engraving. And many obscure saints have been uncovered!
It's exciting to offer these medals and breathe and deliver new life and a new country (USA) to their existence. It's curious wondering where these medals have been and the lives they have touched, with more to come! If you are looking for a saint medal, please let us know and we will try to find it. We've found so many versions of Saint Rock/Roch/Rocco and we look forward to presenting those soon. Thanks for taking a look at our vintage medals. They are all truly one-of-a-kind, just like our newer hand-painted saint medals.
