Saint Florian

Saint Florian

Patron of firemen and brewers
Invoked against the ravages of fires and floods
Feast Day: May 4

Florian’s story took place long ago. Florian was an Austrian martyr living in the 4th Century. It is said he once doused a raging fire by pouring a single pitcher of fluid upon it. This great deed has left him popular, not only with firefighters, but also with beer lovers and brewers, who are also known for emptying pitchers. Wear a Saint Florian medal to guard against fires and floods. And the next time you enjoy a nice cold pitcher of beer, raise your glass high and make a toast in honor of Saint Florian. © 1997
