Saint Nicholas

Saint Nicholas

Patron Saint of Russia, Pawnbrokers, Brewers, Brides & Children
Feast Day: December 6

Nicholas’ story took place long ago. He is better known by his Danish name, the generous “Santa Claus.” Saint Nick became the bishop of Myra. He was known as a wonder worker and after his parents died while he was very young, he began honorably serving the poor. A legend says that 3 poor women were about to be forced into the “oldest profession in the world” but on the night before, Nicholas threw three gold balls into their apartment, and this provided enough money for them to change their plans. Another tells of Nick finding 3 dead boys pickled and hidden in a basement barrel. Nick brought the boys back to life to live good lives. The 3 gold balls and the 3 boys in the barrel are all featured on our Saint Nicholas’s medal. Pray to Saint Nick when you feel you have nowhere to turn for help or when you feel stuck in the bottom of a barrel. Nicholas will help you sew gold from straw and resurrect you before reaching “rock bottom.”
