We have HUGE news!
Dreams do come true. The dotting of the I’s and the crossing of the T’s is not completely finished so you will have to wait a bit longer for all of the official details. Look forward to the next newsletter.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
It is really for everyone, in a way, because today is the Celebration of the Assumption of Mary to Heaven. So this note serves as a little reminder to all that there is likely some event occurring nearby you. Check your calendars!
In New Orleans, there are events in various churches and then, tonight, from 6:30 - 8:00 the Feast Ferragosto is at the:
Ferragosto - The American Italian Cultural Center celebrates and provides a light Italian summer dinner paired with three classic Italian cocktails in celebration of Ferragosto!
It’s a public holiday usually celebrated annually on August 15th, so coinciding with the Assumption of Mary.
The www.SaintsforSinners.com Assumption of Mary medal can be seen below along with the Saint Agostino prayer card from Italy.
The Ferragosto celebration pre-dates Catholicism and actually dates back to the Emperor Augustus in 18 B.C. The name "Ferragosto" comes from the Latin “Feriae Augusti” – the festivals of Augustus. Emperor Augustus created an event and named it after himself. The first “Feriae Augusti” probably celebrated a military victory.
Nowadays, Ferragosto is the culmination of summer vacation. Italians travel to beaches or mountains to escape the heat of the city. That’s something all New Orleanians do for the entire summer!
And in the Bronx, New York’s “Little Italy” Ferragosto has been scheduled for a celebration of September 8th on Arthur Avenue at East 187thStreet & Crescent Avenue. It runs from 11:00 a.m. til early evening. There’s food, fun, laughter and a wonderful family atmosphere to enjoy, along with lots of great food and entertainment. It sounds fun and we are especially excited about it because …. Our latest retailer,
Grace Pietrosanti, Sacred Heart’s Proprietor, will be offering www.SaintsforSinners.com medals at her booth. I’ve never been to Ferragosto before so I can’t tell you exactly where she will be but her spot should not be too hard to find.
If you’re in the New York City area on September 8, 2019, take a Subway to Little Italy in the Bronx and enjoy a great Festival and send us a photo of our medal daispay at Scared Heart Gifts & Apperal.
Celebrate the Feast of the Assumption today, and the Blessed Virgin Mary’s Ascension through the Gates of Heaven. There’s hope for us all!
That’s all for now - we’re working on a bunch of new things but I’ll save that until after Labor Day. I know it’s time to go out and celebrate. Enjoy, and
Thanks for reading to the bottom line!
