Holy Thursday is upon us and then soon we will be participating in Good Friday and then celebrating Easter Sunday and the Resurrection. On Good Friday, folks in New Orleans typically have delicious  boiled crawfish, adding corn, potatoes, garlic, mushrooms, onions, green beans, oranges, asparagus, and sometimes artichokes, if you get lucky!

Here’s a little letter about some of the health care saints to think about and perhaps share their stories with others. Maybe your doctor, or a neighbor who’s a nurse, a sister who’s helping another with radiation treatments, a butcher to let them know they have a saint too, or a pediatrician, who helps young kids, or someone who is just feeling a little blue, and maybe needs a happy meeting to cheer them up! As far as we can remember, we have never suggested that there is a living saint that we should pray to and ask for their help and more importantly ask for their well-being. There’s a first time for everything, though, and we will finish this newsletter asking you to pray for an actual living person, a living saint, for help with combating CV-19.

On Wednesday, many decide to take a Lenten Vow. It might be giving up candy for 40 days. It might be deciding to say 5 kind things to people every single day for 40 days! Many go to Church and receive ashes on their forehead. This shows the world the person is celebrating and participating in the Lenten Period with a Lenten Vow.

On Sunday, February 16th, the Annual Barkus Parade is held in the French Quarter of New Orleans. It’s part of the Mardi Gras Celebrations that prepare us for Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. It also raises money for our local ASPCA!
